Democrats won control of the House on Tuesday by flipping more than three dozen Republican-held seats, picking up perennial swing districts and seats that were once considered deep red.

Following stunning losses, even in seats thought to be safe, some House Republicans say their conference’s leadership team needs to step aside. On Thursday, a handful of Republicans began trying to oust them.

Vote counting will continue well beyond Election Day, with several key House races still too close for CNN to project a winner. Counting procedures vary by state, meaning some races could be decided quickly while others may take days.
